It Was All A Dream…by Cornell Dews

I can not believe it.  And I don’t know if you should either.  I woke up this morning to an email from someone saying I had an NFL MVP vote for the 2024 season.  Or maybe I was dreaming?  Nevertheless just follow along with me.  The sender was “they.” The subject line was empty.  The content read, “you have a NFL MVP vote.”  I immediately submitted my vote, for my QB, for my team, in my city, the Baltimore Ravens.  Lamar Jackson!  I didn’t vote for anyone else.  I figured, besides this being the most creative editorial I’d write.  It would also be the most bias.  Lamar Jackson is the MVP not just because I said so, but for obvious reasons.  He led his team to a division championship.  He’s the first player in the history of the NFL to pass for more than four thousand yards and rush for 800 plus yards.  He has thrown for 40 plus touchdowns with only 4 interceptions.  He broke Michael Vick’s all-time record this season, by rushing for more than 6000 yards in his career (and still counting).  He helped Zay Flowers have his best season ever, being named to his first Pro Bowl.  Even Derrick Henry benefited from the spectacular play of Lamarvelous.  And there were too many incredible plays throughout the season to identify one as his MVP moment.  But I’ll ask this, when was the last time you seen a NFL quarterback turn his back to begin celebrating a touchdown pass before the receiver caught the football?  I’ll tell you when.  The last two times Lamar did it.

Did I tell you that this editorial would be bias?  I will not be including stats of anyone else for you to compare to the young goat.  There aren’t any other stats that compare in my most humble lopsided opinion.  Give Lamar Jackson the award that he earned.  It’s nothing to speculate about.  It’s nothing to try to pontificate about.  Give the award, for a third time, to the kid from Pompano Beach, Florida who was told that he wouldn’t become exactly what he’s becoming.  The greatest!

Lamar Jackson, the 2024 NFL MVP! Enough said.
