Creating Your Own Opportunities: MIOTI Philosophy by Cornell Dews

For Those Who Get Money.  Or Aspire To Get Money.  Make It Or Take It.  Do It Or Get It Done To You.

I vividly remember as a child. My mother constantly said, β€œMan, you’re going to have to learn how to play the game.”  I’d be baffled.  β€œWhat game are you talking about Ma?” She’d say, β€œthe game of life.”  β€œYou can’t always say and do what you want, when you’re working for someone else.”  My mother would say, β€œsometimes you have to bite your tongue and just do what’s expected.”

Although I know that thought to be true, in most cases.  It never set right with me.  I didn’t want to just conform to the norm of the masses.  I didn’t want to just abide by the rules set forth by others just to be able to provide for myself.  I was born different.  I was born to be fearless in my efforts to create something from scratch for myself.  I was born to lead and not follow.

So early on in life, I knew that I would have to make it for myself.  Or β€œtake it” from someone else who made it happen for himself.  I’m not speaking from a literal strong arm perspective.  No, I’m not encouraging physical violence.  I am speaking from the perspective of having to β€œtake it” in the sense of the demands placed on you. These demands come from someone who had the courage and vision to put themselves in position to give orders.  A position of authority.

From that thought, the idea of MIOTI was birthed.  It’s a thought that I subscribe to in my daily walk.  It’s the example that I attempt to set.  Be a dreamer.  Be fearless in the pursuit of your dreams.  Be a risktaker.  Be the example that you want others to aspire to be.  Opportunity is either given to you or created by you. Don’t wait for it to be given.  Create it.
