If I had the chance to speak with Lamar Jackson, I’d simply say this:
I hope you’re doing well, and I hope the weight that comes with being a starting quarterback — especially a Black quarterback in the NFL — isn’t falling solely on your shoulders. I can only imagine the pressure, responsibility, and expectations that come with being the face of a multibillion-dollar franchise. Obviously the reward for success is also immense. And that type of success comes with many unseen tug of wars not observed by the casual fan.
With all of that said, I truly hope you’re finding moments of joy in the game you’ve mastered. I still think about the energy you and Mark Ingram brought — that “Big Truss” spirit. It was special. And I hope you’re still able to feel that kind of joy, even with all the added weight that success brings.
Lamar, you are a generational talent. A multiple-time MVP. One of the most electrifying athletes the league has ever seen. And I personally believe you still haven’t reached your ceiling. Your potential is that extraordinary — GOD give, talent.

From the outside looking in, it seems like there may be things pulling at you that the public doesn’t see. I know I may be wrong, and if so, I mean no offense at all — I’m simply a caring, observant fan who wants to see you experience everything you’re capable of achieving, both on the field and off.
Most importantly, I want you to be well. Truly well. Whatever that looks like. Your greatness is already undeniable, but your peace matters even more.
I’m rooting for you. I’m cheering for your success, for your joy, and for your continued growth in all areas of life.

Sincerely,
Cornell Dews
