My grandmother said, “unless you’re prepared to go to war or fallout with people you love, don’t discuss politics or religion.” People are mad about the Presidential election results. People are mad that Trump won again. People are mad that he’s ready to resume office for a second time. People are mad at Snoop, Rozay and Nelly for performing at a presidential inaugural event. My wife told me that “social media” is canceling them. One of my homies asked me what do I think about Snoop. I replied, “Snoop is an entertainer. And he does what entertainers do. He entertains. Preferably for a fee, I’m sure.”
We shouldn’t have to discuss politics or religion publicly. If we are who we truly claim to be, a person should be able to identify that within us. Without us ever having to say a word. My Pastor, another wise elder of mine, says, “people don’t care what you believe, they care how you behave.”
Don’t waste another 4 years complaining about the person who holds the highest office in the land, for whatever reason(s) you choose. And please don’t lose friends and family members over differing views.
Control what you can control. Govern your own government. Which is your family and your home. Become more active in your community. Support a non-profit organization. Serve. All I’m saying is that there are many positive things that we can do and should already be doing, if we are who we say we are. And for those who fall short of our moral barometer, let us be the light that we wish they were. Lead by example. Lend a helping hand where you can. And never cease praying. Pray. A lot.
With all that we decide to do for the next four years, let us not stoop to our lowest selves on social media and in real life. Let us not commence to name calling and finger pointing. Deleting and blocking people. As a people, I’d like to believe that we’re much better than that. So let’s show that we are. What I think about Snoop? DoggyStyle was a classic! That’s what I think.
